I came into the dining area this morning to find this, complete with the facial expression. I immediately burst into laughter. "What's the occasion?" I asked."It's a lucky day," Husband said.
"Well, I guess so!" I responded.
"No, it's the luckiest day of your life," he said.
Having grown up among Chinese people, I didn't have to be told. "Eight-eight-eight," I responded.
"Yep," he said. Turns out that he bought these yellow mugs several years ago at a "going out of business sale" for a local flower shop, and saved them in the bottom of his underwear drawer for a special event. So we sat and drank our Inka (if you don't know what that is, you've missed something!) out of our happy cups.
This may give you a glimpse as to why I was willing to trade in the 20 fabulous things for other fabulous things.
Oh how AWESOME! I love smiley faces, and have a smiley mug very similar to (but much smaller than) that on my desk at work. When I was in high school, my room, car, and office were all plastered in smiley faces.
ReplyDeleteYou made a good trade, by the way. :o)
What a hoot those cups are. And the smile on your husband's face--a perfect match!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I don't know what Inka is and neither does Google. :-(
ReplyDeleteLove those mugs! How did he ever save them for so long without giving away the secret? What a treat.
ReplyDeleteOh, in Burundi, "inka" is the word for cow. Don't think that's what you meant! So what's Inka to you?
Inka is a "rich, flavorful instant grain beverage enjoyed by Polish families for generations," according to the container. It's made from roasted barley, rye, chicory and beet roots. It looks a bit like instant coffee, and is supposed to be a non-caffeine substitute for coffee. The thing that I like about it is the flavor and the zero calorie count.
ReplyDeleteLife is indeed full of some thoughtful moments!
